The Milicz waters located in the valley of the Polish river Barycz form a landscape of almost 300 fishing ponds. It has the status of a protected nature reserve in Poland due to its importance as a habitat for European water birds.

At the beginning of July, local anglers discovered dark spots on the river surface and immediately notified the relevant services. Measurements taken revealed that there was almost no oxygen left in the water, which would lead to the fish stocks being wiped out.

BBA Pumps was immediately called in to install mobile pump systems to provide temporary aeration. By pumping large amounts of water from the surface, the oxygen level has returned back to normal values and a catastrophe has been prevented.
